1. Import Trend

 ○ According to the CAPMAS(The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics), which based on Presidential Decree 2915 for year 1964, CAPMAS is the official source for provision of data, statistics, and reports. The following tables demonstrate the current status of Refrigeration Units for Truck for year 2010:

3. Competition Trend

 ○ There are many local manufacturers of refrigeration units used in trucks. Local manufacturers account for more than 75% of the market, while importers account for 25%. Local manufacturers are key players in the market and they are dominating the market as they usually provide catering services, transportation and transportation equipment at the same time. There are several huge factories that produce refrigeration units for trucks in Egypt. Not all Manufacturers provide these units with a trade name, most of them sell the brand under its company’s name.

 ○ The most famous Egyptian brands are Resturck which is exported to Libya, Sudan, Yemen, and United Arab Emirates and Refcat which is exported to Italy, Spain and United States.  Other Foreign brands that are imported and distributed in the market are Iso-Frigo, Fag, Hermekit, Bock and Eco. The main important countries which Egypt imports refrigeration units from are France(50%), USA(14%) and Italy(12%).

 ○ Competition is fierce because there are a lot of local manufacturers, however, the quality of imported units seems to be better than the locally produced ones, and therefore, competition goes harder.

 ○ Moreover, local manufacturers provide lower prices than importers and that is why they are grasping more market share. South Korea had never been one of the countries that Egypt import refrigeration units from and according to Egyptian buyers, it is very hard for South Korea to enter this market because they will be competing with the imported brands that are providing very high quality and that has a good reputation and history in the Egyptian market.
